Baptism of Alisa, Shelley, Simon and Dan
A message from Alisa:
After feeling lost for quite a few years after losing my mum early in her life, I walked into the local church cafe, which was Bamboo Connect. The welcome I got was so wonderful and loving. It felt like I had walked into my mum’s house all over again; everyone made me feel loved and like I was part of the family. After speaking to Alie and the other ladies there and explaining what I had been through in my life, they made me feel so comfortable and not one of them judged me. I knew from then that this is what friendship and family are meant to be like. Alie spoke to me about the church and how we are all one big family, that no one is judged about our past and mistakes, and that everyone is equal. I went up a few more times before ever walking into church and when I did, I realised that I had an even bigger family as people I had never met came up to me and welcomed me with open arms, and it was like I had known them all my life. I’m usually very shy, but walking into church, all that left me, and I just felt like I was at home. I chose to give myself to Jesus truly and be baptised on the 24th of September, 2023. It was the best decision I had ever made as I felt Jesus take over me as I was placed under the water, and when I came back up, it felt like everything had been taken away from me, all the burden and the stress and now I can live my life with my children as a much better person.
My baptism verse was Deuteronomy 31 v 8,
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
This will stay for me for the rest of my life as I start my journey with god. Amen
