Games Night 3

I went to Family Games Night for the Christmas-themed games, and …oh…my… what fun.

There are some fun things that you didn’t know about some of the shy, reserved, quiet people in our congregation…they are super competitive.

I genuinely do not know who had the most fun: the kids who were laughing and joking and having the time of their lives or the adults who were laughing and cheating and being sneaky. You know who you are.

The games, though simple, had the right balance of teamwork, individual effort, and competitiveness. They were a good mix of physical effort, skill, and brains. The sheer number of games held was astounding, and there was certainly something there for everyone. I even saw some of the teens (you know the ones at that age where having fun is embarrassing?) smiling, laughing, and taking part.

The support of each team was so good to watch, but the best part was the support of everyone when someone did a personal great. Team number didn’t matter; everyone was pleased with the individual effort.

Although my team was robbed on several occasions (of course, that is the only possible reason we didn’t win), the fun and laughter we had more than made up for it.

The half-time break, during which we were served huge American-style hotdogs and chocolate cake, allowed the younger team members to come together in play while the adults took the quizzes (with definitely no googling—were there certain teams?? You know who you are).

Everyone had fun and came together in the celebrations. The team that “won” (this is not me being a sore loser) had a great time, too. The organisation of the event was just amazing. Though some tried to manipulate the rules and try to get one over on the games master, the games master came back and brought them back into line.

Next time I will be bringing back up and my team will win…you have been warned!!
